He’s the Grinch who stole a home.

A Georgia man waited until a local family went on vacation over the holidays and then moved into their home, the owner told police.

Janice Henson told WSB-TV that she and her family returned home last week to find Nathaniel Jacob Nuckols had broken in and changed the locks on them.

Nuckols, 26, allegedly answered the door and told Henson to leave, threatening her with a gun.

Henson called police, who reported to the residence and launched a five-hour standoff before SWAT officers broke down the front door and used a robot to find Nuckols inside, according to the station.

Nuckols surrendered and showed no evidence of a weapon.

“He also left us notes thanking us for the key and thanking us for letting him live here, and it was his house now,” Henson told WSB-TV. “He moved all the pictures, emptied drawers. He was making this house his.”

Nuckols was arrested for first-degree burglary, terroristic threats and acts and willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, according to his police report.

He’s being held in jail on a $33,220 bond.
